Know More About Time of Transfer (TOT) Inspections

In the state of Iowa, the DNR requires a specific type of inspection to be performed before a property title can be transferred to a new owner if that property has an on-site waste disposal system.

This is called a Time of Transfer (TOT) inspection, and it’s been mandatory ever since 2009. The reason for this investigation is to make sure that the septic system is not sub-standard and does not pose any type of public or environmental health hazard.
